After creating the key, Restart your computer and your Windows security should work now. alternatively, you can run the".reg" file which can be downloaded here . TRY THE ABOVE METHOD FIRST.

Double-click “Hide the Virus and threat protection area”. Make sure this setting is set as Not Configured .

Hello Team, Thank you for your help but I am afraid this didn't help me to solve the issue I am running Windows 11 Home Edition version 10.0.22621 Build 22621 When I run gpedit.msc I got the following error message { Windows cannot find gpedit.msc make sure you type name correctly and then try again In Regedit under Local Machine \software\policies\Microsoft ( I can't find Windows defender security center !! Not sure if you were able to resolve this but chances are your UI Lockdown had been enabled. go into your regedit > navigate to Computer > HKey_Local_Machine > software > policies > Microsoft > Windows Defender > ux configuraiton > look for key called uilockdown and change to 0. reopen your windows defender (ie windows security) window and should be there now. Could you explain what you mean by subfolders? I added the key in just how it looks on this screenshot and ran the .reg file and it's still not showing it so I definitely missed something.

Okay so I've just encountered this problem and found a solution that helped me. I had my school account connected to my computer and that seems to be the issue. If you want to remove your Work Account from your computer, please follow theese steps:

Open up "Settings"

Click on "Accounts"

Find "Access to Workplace or School"

There find your work/school account and click on it

Click "Remove"

(ADDITIONAL, not needed probably) Restart your computer

This will remove your work account from your computer and you should be able to find Virus and Threat protection in Windows Security. Microsoft said it's a "well-known bug", but couldn't find a better solution to fix this, so I hope this will be just a temporary bug. Hope this helped!

I've been using Windows 11, the Virus & threat protection is disabled, the 'Restart now' is not working. I have reset and repair Windows defender, the issue still persist.

I have attempted to make amendments in the registry, but 'Window Defender Security Center' file is missing, can you advise please?

When I run gpedit.msc I got the following error message { Windows cannot find gpedit.msc make sure you type name correctly and then try again

This helped my get Virus & threat protection in Settings>Privacy and Security>Windows Security but it is still missing in Windows Security when clicked on Open Windows Security button above Virus & threat protection in Settings>Privacy and Security>Windows Security . When I click on Virus & threat protection in Settings>Privacy and Security>Windows Security it shows: Page not available Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app and the item you tried to access is not available. Contact IT helpdesk for more information

There is no “ux configuration” under Windows Defender in the Registry Editor. Not sure what to do.
