Hello, @Candappa, Candy !
How do I transfer my RHEL licenses from on VM/subscription to another?
Azure offers 2 different licensing models for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL): pay-as-you-go and bring-your-own-subscription (BYOS).
- Pay-as-you-go: The advantage of this model is not having to worry about paying separately for the appropriate number of images as they charge a premium fee for the RHEL entitlement and updates. You can find additional information in the Azure documentation:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/workloads/redhat/overview - Bring-your-own-licensing: To make sure you meet the requirements for BYOL, you'll want to refer to the Red Hat subscription documentation:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_subscription_management/2023#ref_ca-unit-conversion_cloud-access
It does appear that this involves unregistering and decommissioning the old system before using the entitlement on a new system.
I hope this has been helpful! Your feedback is important so please take a moment to accept answers.
