Folder redirection through group policy does not sync consistantly

Hello, we have folder redirection implemented through group policy. The problem is that syncing does not seem to initiate automatically. Sync will usually work when manually initiating the sync. Have other experienced this? Any recommendations appreciated.
Thank you

    Hello,

Thank you so much for posting here.

According to our description, we are wondering whether the problem is like below:

"The users will save a file into their Documents folder on PCs, log off and log on to a different PC. But the file won't be in their Documents folder. "

If there is any misunderstanding or if there is any more symptom, please let us know.

To further narrow this issue, we would like to get more information:

1, The sync issue occurred to all the users?
2, The sync issue occurred in all the redirected folders (Such as Documents, Desktop) if we configured them?
3, Does this sync issue occur when it is not connected to the network. As we know, offline File technology (which is turned on by default) gives users access to the folder even when they are not connected to the network. This is especially useful for people who use portable computers.

For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

    Best regards,
    Hannah Xiong

Hello, we haven't checked the scenario "The users will save a file into their Documents folder on PCs, log off and log on to a different PC. But the file won't be in their Documents folder. " specifically.
When on a user's computer they may create a new folder for example whether on there personal network folder or the Documents folder. They are each a mirror of each other. If I connect to the user's personal folder on the server itself, that mew folder is not there. It appears to be local to the computer. If we wait several hours that folder will still not appear on the server itself. If a sync is manually started then the folder will appear on the server.
I have checked other users systems and they too experience the same. Only the Documents folder is set for Folder Redirection.
I don't understand your last point. The sync should only occur when connected to the network as I understand it.
    Thank you

    Hello,

Thank you so much for your kindly reply.

According to our description, we understand that the new created folder will not be showing in the shared path on the server if the user creates it on the Documents folder or on the network folder. In my test, if I created a file on the Documents folder on the PC, it will immediately appear on the directed shared path on the server.

Actually, when we created the new folder on the Documents folder or on the Network folder, it means that we created folder on the shared path folder on the server. As we could see, the Redirected Documents location is shared path on the server.

We could check whether the user could see the new created folder from the PC via \Server name\Shared folder. In my case, the Documents folder was redirected to \PDC\docstore\user name\Documents. So, when the user access \PDC\DocStore\user name\Documents, he could see all the documents.

Hi Hannah, I understand how this is suppose to work. My issue is that it is not working and was hoping if there is any other insight as to why it is not doing what it is suppose to be doing. Thank you
