Hi

We have started a Purview project and need to get some clarity around including SharePoint in our Microsoft Purview Unified data governance plan.

From what I understand the Purview Governance Portal (Purview.microsoft.com) and Purview Compliance Portal (Complaince.microsoft.com) are completely separate products.

Why would the PurviewGovernance portal not support SharePoint or Exchange Online?
Is that on the roadmap?

Feel to me like a no-brainer that SharePoint should be part of the supported sources?
How do companies manage this?

Can anyone tell me the reasoning behind that?

Thank You

@63608335 - Thanks for the question and using MS QUA platform.

Yes, you are correct that the Purview Governance Portal and Purview Compliance Portal are separate products. The Purview Governance Portal is designed to help you manage your on-premises, multicloud, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) data**.** It allows you to create a holistic, up-to-date map of your data landscape with automated data discovery, sensitive data classification, and end-to-end data lineage. On the other hand, the Purview Compliance Portal is designed to help you manage your compliance and regulatory requirements.

Regarding your question about SharePoint and Exchange Online, the Purview Governance Portal currently does not support these services. However, Microsoft is constantly working to improve and expand the capabilities of Purview, so it is possible that support for SharePoint and Exchange Online could be added in the future. I recommend keeping an eye on the Purview documentation and roadmap for updates on this topic.

Unfortuatnely, Sharepoint is not support as the data source in Microsoft Purview.
