Dear Community,

We have noticed on our Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices that all programs crash randomly while users are working on their devices. What happens is that the desktop turns white and every window that is opened and every single App which is opened crashes and then the user has to re-open them. To get rid of the White Screen we have to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, select the Task Manager Tab & go to File type "explorer.exe" & then open it after that the user is able to use the system.

I have a feeling that Microsoft New Teams might be responsible for that. As once the Teams App is uninstalled, everything starts working fine. Kindly help me figure out the problem?

How can I resolve this Issue?

Regards,

    Hi @
    Seema Kanwal Gurmani

According to our investigation, we have not found a direct relationship between Teams and Win system crashes.

If you think New Teams is causing this problem, we recommend that you click on the upper left corner of the Teams desktop client to switch it to the Teams classic version, and try clearing the cache.

    Hi
    LiweiTian-MSFT

We did try switching back to old Teams, but the Issue still persists so the only work around we have found so far is that the we have to manually uninstall the Teams app and re-install it.

Here are the Logs of the Events as well.

Here are 2 screenshots of the Events that I observed could be the culprit. One shows explorer.exe related event and other one shows Microsoft Teams Add-in saying Insuffient Privileges. So, what I did for now is that I disabled this Add-in in Outlook Application to see If this resolves the Issue or not on one of the Affected Machine.[Image

Also note that other machines had similar events too. The issue did not get resolved despite disabling the Teams Add-In inside Outlook Application.

Kindly guide me how can I resolve this issue.
