We are currently trying to onboard our data centers servers to azure update manager by onboarding them to Arc. Some of the server assessments are failing and error we can see is that extensions installation process has been crashed and giving below error.
"Windows update API failed to assess the machine for available updates. Error:Unknown trust provider. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800B0001), Hresult:0" at UpdateManagementAction.concrete.UpdateAssessment.GetAvailableUpdates()"

We already tried replacing the certificate file, manually tried installing the extensions and no luck.

Anybody has faced the similar issue? already tried with MS support also no solution yet.

If you're willing @M.Chamara Sampath Fernando please share your SR #, I can follow up. You can send the SR to AzCommunity[at]microsoft[dot]com.

The error you're receiving though, appears to be a connectivity issue between your server(s) and WSUS. Basic troubleshooting would entail using a network sniffing tool, like Microsoft Network Monitor tool. You can refer to Configure WSUS to ensure your environment firewall is properly configured. If your environment is properly configured and talking with WSUS, then we'll need to continue your support case enlisting the support of Windows Networking to investigate why the exception is occuring.
