Recently rebuilt my system and now when I go into my Synology files or in windows. most of my videos show up as an icon instead of the image. Could someone point me to a codec to resolve the issue as I didn't think to write down what I had. TIA

Since this is new install of Windows, run Windows Update and download and install all updates.
Click on the video and if it opens, then you are good to go, otherwise, it will direct you to Microsoft Store to install the right codec.
I did all that. The videos open and play but only a few show the thumbnail view which it is set to show and did before the reset. Also, it is not going to the microsoft store.

Only when I rebooted, the internet wasn't connected or my nas. Removed it and rebooted everything to get back here.
Open start and search for Disk Cleanup and open it and select the drive which videos are there and click thumbnail and perform disk clean up and wait for a while and restart your PC and see if the problem persists?
Tried that with no effect. I have vlc setup as a player and some of the videos show just the large orange cone will others have the thumbnail with an small orange cone in the corner which I can turn on or off under view.
Try uninstall the VLC player and restart your PC and see if the problem persists?

Ok, a user on Facebook got me up and running. Tried the store and windows update to no avail. A facebook user in the Windows 10 forum suggested K-lite which worked. Thank you for your help!!
