Hi,

I have a SCCM server (version 2207) need to change the hostname and IP. Seems change IP is OK, but how about the hostname?

Best Regards

Chong

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Agree with JanDeHud. Changing the IP Address is no problem, just make sure the change is reflected in DNS. However, changing the hotsname of a site server or site system is completely unsupported and will break things. Per the official document: Site and site system prerequisites for Configuration Manager

After a site system server is installed, it's not supported to change:

The domain name of the domain where the site system computer is located (also called a domain rename).

The domain membership of the computer.

    The name of the computer.

    hostname

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Simon

    Hi Chong,

it is not supported to change the hostname of any site server in a SCCM(MECM) environment. You´d have to change databases manually and even if you could archieve it, you would lose your support from Microsoft.
