I get an error whenever I try to join a Teams meeting

Whenever I try to join a Teams meeting I get the following error:

"Request Id: a3726c0b-5fa6-42b8-806a-916b91650c00

Correlation Id: a980319a-3e81-4576-99f8-7df153573f5f

Timestamp: 2023-09-22T10:55:16Z

Message: AADSTS7000112: Application '1fec8e78-bce4-4aaf-ab1b-5451cc387264'(Microsoft Teams) is disabled. "

It then suggests I should contact our administrator. This would be me, but I've no idea what to do with this information. I am also unable to join Teams meeting from a browser window.

I've tried the usual tricks such as uninstalling and reinstalling and I can't find anything obvious to do in the admin console, so I'm a little out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated

    Hello Craig,

please check in your Azure policy if you allow Teams to be used. The message suggests that your policies disallows the Teams login.

We don't have an Azure policy. We just have Microsoft 365 subscriptions.

    Hi @Craig Simkin

It seems that the error message you are getting indicates that Teams is disabled for your organization. There are a few possible reasons:

    • Your organization has not purchased or assigned a license for Teams to your account. You can check license status in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

    • Your organization has turned off Teams for some or all users in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

I've asked the person who invited me to the Teams meeting whether this might be the problem, but won't know until they confirm.

As mentioned previously, I don't really want to pay for Teams licences when our only use is when we are joingin other people's meetings as guests.

It doesn't look like that's the problem as the 3rd party who invited me to the meeting say they have the setting allowing guests turned on. I've just ended up upgrading my Microsoft 365 licence to include Teams which has done the trick, but no idea why I couldn't join meetings as a guest.
