Hi Team,

I'm writing to discuss an issue our team has encountered while preparing for the launch of the "App for Outlook" plugin alongside our Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 V8.2. We've run into a challenge related to the limited functionality of the App for Outlook with our CRM version, and we're in need of guidance to overcome this obstacle.

As part of our preparations, we've successfully integrated the App for Outlook into our UAT system, which is CRM 2016 V8.2 - On-Premise. However, during our testing phase, we discovered that the App for Outlook only allows us to "Set Regard" with the default entities: "Contact," "Account," and "Lead." Unfortunately, there seems to be no provision available to incorporate custom entities for tracking purposes.

This limitation is a cause for concern as we rely on several custom entities within our CRM to manage our customer relationships effectively. To provide our team with a seamless experience and to ensure that our processes are properly integrated, it is essential for us to extend the functionality of the App for Outlook to include these custom entities.

I would greatly appreciate the insights and expertise of the MS Community on the following:

Has anyone encountered a similar challenge with the App for Outlook integration in CRM 2016 - V8.2 - On-Premise?

Are there any known workarounds, updates, or solutions that can enable the integration of custom entities with the App for Outlook in this CRM version?

Are there any best practices or resources available for extending the functionality of the App for Outlook to include custom entities?

Should we consider any specific configurations or customizations within our CRM system to address this limitation?

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise. We look forward to your guidance and recommendations to help us overcome this challenge.

Cheers.

    Hi @31530271 ,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

From the description, seems that you are having issues with the App for Outlook integration in CRM 2016.

Please understand that the tags like Exchange Online and Outlook are mainly for general questions about Exchange Online or Outlook, while your question is more related to Dynamics CRM which is currently not yet supported in Q&A, so, I'd recommended trying to repost your question to the dedicated community for Dynamics as there might be more users who are familiar with how to integrate App for Outlook in CRM and hopefully you can get some insight over there.
