Hello ,
Hiding or disabling the address bar in Windows File Explorer or in the "Save As" dialog is not a built-in feature of Windows. The address bar is an integral part of the Windows File Explorer interface, and removing it requires some advanced customization.
However, there are workarounds:
- Registry configuration (Windows 10 Only):
In REGEDIT, access the path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Comdlg32
If the "Comdlg32" key doesn't exist, you may need to create it.
**Inside the "Comdlg32" key, create a new DWORD value (if not already present) with the name "NoFileMru" and set its value to "1."
Restart your computer or log out and log back in to apply the changes.
- Using 3rd Party applications (Windows 11).
Since Windows 11 has improved the security over the functioning of the system sell, such as Explorer.exe, some modifications available through registry are not anymore available, as they are inbuilt in the shell protected code. There are certain apps (not provided by Microsoft) that can replace system files, shell files, or Windows 11 environment in order to "unlock" these features. But since these apps are not made or recommended by Microsoft and they actively change the code of your operating system they should be used with caution and at own risk.
