Scary good scam

Question

Just got a gmail from microsoft-n@microsoft.com. If i just saw this email address i wouldnt instantly think it would be a scam. the email contains all the usual microsoft design everythings looks professional no grammar errors or font differences. The email is a “reminder” to pay my payout tax and it wants me to login into my microsoft account. where they will steal my info. ive never seen such a well done phishing scam i know alot of people would fall for this type of stuff scary

Glad you're being cautious. This email may be a phishing scam, where the sender is trying to trick you into giving them your personal information. Before doing so, be sure to check if these emails lead to legitimate websites. You can also check the sender's email address to see if it matches the company's official email address.

If this is a phishing email, they may collect the username and password you enter on a fake login page in order to access your account and steal your personal information. They may also ask you for other sensitive information, such as your credit card number or Social Security number. Therefore, if you suspect that this is a phishing email, it is best not to click on the links in the email or provide any personal information.
