Hi All i am using Microsoft Configuration Manager Version 2303,console version:52303.The VM is hosted on Azure. The OS is Windows Server 2012R2. SQL database is running on a separate VM. Can i do inplace upgrade from Windows Server 2012R2 to Windows Server 2019 with SCCM running, will SCCM support this or do i need to go with Windows Server 2016. Few of my Distribution points are running on Windows Server 2012R2(Azure VMs). can they be upgraded to Windows Server 2019. Please guide me.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Yes, Configuration Manager supports the in-place upgrade of the server OS that hosts a site server and any site system role from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2019. As long as you follow the documentation it should go well. Please refer to:

Upgrade on-premises infrastructure that supports Configuration Manager

Looking to migrate our sccm server from 2012 r2 to 2019 server. Do you recommend in-place upgrade or clean install?

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Simon
