I also ran into this these symptoms. I ran across the following command certutil.exe -scinfo to test and make sure my card was not bad and found out my certificate validity period had expired and needed a new certificate. Maybe this helps someone, maybe not, but best of luck!
Selecting a Certificate in any browser not showing/popping up.
Good evening.
For the past week, I can no longer select a certificate on my personal laptop on any browser (Edge, Chrome or Firefox)from my Smart Card to authenticate on .mil websites.
These are some of the following T/S steps I have done:
I have tried clearing all cache, and SSL and updating every browser
I have restarted my laptops multiple times / applied all Win 11 updates as much as possible.
I have REPLACED my smart card
I have REPLACED my CAC Reader.
I have Turned off all Firewall/VPN/Antivirus (AVG) ( I recently installed this licensed version, and right around the same time I noticed I cannot authenticate to any .mil or FS websites (OWA).
I have verified the time zones/times and dates.
I have tried a different USB slot ( the CAC and CAC reader have all the updated drivers and tried enabling/disabling/rolling back etc. from the device manager
Followed ALL the instructions on military CAC.com, went ahead, and even updated InstallRoot from 5.2 to 5.5(could be an issue?)
Played around with Certmgr.msc even though I have all certificates installed and on the CAC.
There are probably 3-4 T/S steps that I have forgotten because I've been on this for about a week to no avail.
Current specs are Windows 11 Home , 21H2, OS BUILD : 22000.1098 ,Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.1098.0
It seems that on every website I try to authenticate to, there is not ANY certificate installed because it usually states " no valid certificates presented, or no DoD certificate present. etc"
Please bear in mind that I am a current IT, and I have done about 98% of the basic T/S steps but I am truly losing hope and I need assistance this is CRAZY.
