Good afternoon,

I have a server here with ESXi installed on which 2 virtual machines have been created, both installed with Windows Server 2022 Standard. The problem is that one server is activated, but I can't activate the other one.

When we try:  dism /online /set-edition:serverstandard /productkey:<KEY > /accepteula

we do not receive an error message, but after restarting the evaluation version is active again.

Does anyone have an idea to solve this?

Gr, Mark

As a work around, might also try using a kms key as intermediary step.

    Dism /online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/kmsclientkeys#windows-server-ltscltsb-versions

then if successful use your own product key below after reboot

    slmgr /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
    slmgr /ato

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for your help.

When i run slmgr /ipk <key> I get the following error:

Error: 0xC004F069 On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xC004F069' to display the error text.

If you cannot complete the conversion I'd stand up a new one for replacement. Also note converting a domain controller from evaluation to full is not supported.
