Performance problem with notebooks, mostly Surfaces, with no visible load

Hello everyone,

We currently have the following topic.

Recently there have been increasing reports that notebooks, in our case mainly Surfaces, are having performance problems. The performance simply drops after a while. As a rule, the performance will improve again on its own, but sometimes just a restart helps. The model or type of device plays no role here. Surface Pro, Laptop, Book or Studio Laptop show exactly the same phenomenon.

The mouse starts to stall and it's almost impossible to work for a few minutes. Programs like Teams seem to accelerate this, but so far this is only theory and observation on the part of the users.

We were also able to recreate the problem on a laptop as soon as it is connected to the dock and the battery is at 100%. Below 100% the problem doesn't seem to occur so far. If you unplug the device from the cable, the performance returns immediately. However, this can currently only be done with one device.

Also strange: At first we thought we had a heating problem with the laptop and Pro, which would lead to throttling and explain the problem. We didn't notice any heating problems with the Book and especially the Studio laptop. Nevertheless, the topic seems to arise here too.

I did not observe any massive load peaks on any of the devices at this time. There are no error messages in the Windows log that explain this either.

Frequency: unregulated and several times a day.

The fans suddenly turn up and then it starts to stall at some point.

After restarting the fan is quiet again.

Has anyone come across this or still has ideas?

Drivers have already been updated or even reinstalled, OS have been reinstalled with no improvement.

Some of the devices have now been replaced with studio laptops, which has helped for some.

All devices run on Windows 11.

Thank you!

Start by checking the Power Mode , when you plug or unplug , the Power Mode will change between better battery life or better performance, try manually change setting when connect to power supply and see if the problem persists?

Also, make sure download and install all updates for the Windows.

You may report this issue using the Feedback Hub app on the affected device.
