Error 0xC0000022 when activating Windows Server 2019 DataCenter license.

Question

Machine with Windows Server 2019 DataCenter already had an activated license, one day we noticed that Windows had lost the license.

When trying to activate the license again, the following error message "Error 0xC0000022 on a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition" appears.

Carrying out several searches related to the error, we found some recommendations related to the "Software Protection" service. We observed that the service is in Stopped status, and when trying to start the service a message appears with "Error 5: Access is denied."

You may need to check the permissions for the "Software Protection" service. You can do this by following these steps:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type "regedit" and press Enter.
3. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\swprv
4. Right-click on the "swprv" key and select "Permissions".
5. Make sure that the "Administrators" group has "Full Control" permissions.
6. Click on "Apply" and then "OK".
7. Restart the "Software Protection" service.
