How to solve auto forwarding rules to an external software?

Hello,
There is a client whose emails come through on Outlook. I am trying to connect it through Dext but it does not work as it keep saying message undelivered as the other system rejected it. When I spoke to Dext they said that it was an auto forwarding issue because outlook had changed the way we forward emails. I setup rules on that and it never gave me an error message but now it says that it cannot forward the email. Please can you assist me on this.
