iPad OS RD Client Takes over Both Screens

I’m running RD Client version 10.5.1(5357) on iPad Pro 12.9 6th generation with OS 17.0.2.

My iPad is connected to an HP external monitor using HDMI.

Since the update of RD Client to support full screen on external monitor for iPad pushed on this release, it’s difficult to multitask.

When I launch RD Client on the iPad (with external screen connected), a dark screen takes over the external monitor showing “Connect to a PC or an App on your device”.

Once I connect to a remote system on the app, the remote system shows in full screen on the external monitor and the primary screen (iPad) goes dark showing only the cursor. It’s like the cursor is duplicated on both screens, just that on the iPad screen, it’s all dark, but on the extended screen, it’s showing the remote system.

Is there a way to stop this, forcing the application to only use a single screen at a time?

The problem this creates is that when using RD Client, can’t work on another application on any of the screen as the application takes over the two screens.

    Hello,

I believe this is a widely reported known issue by many other users. IPadOS - Restore single screen use when external display is connected - Microsoft Community Hub

Version 10.5.2 was released on October 24, 2023. Have you tried it? Does it address the dual monitor problem
