How to find certificate rotation schedule in Azure Synapse dedicated pool?

I have my data warehouse setup in Azure Synapse dedicated pool. I want to check the certification rotation schedule and be aware for that event. Last time it happened in June '23 and we could not upscale the pool leading to delay in ETL process. Can anyone Guide me on how to find out this?

To check the next maintenance schedule on your synapse dedicated SQL pool, please follow the below steps.

Go to the Azure portal and navigate to your Synapse workspace.

Click on the "SQL pools" tab and select your dedicated SQL pool.

In the right-hand menu, click on "Maintenance schedule".

From here, you can change the maintenance window of your dedicated SQL pool.

You will need to choose a primary and a secondary maintenance window within a seven-day period; each window must be within separate day ranges.

If maintenance can’t be performed during your primary maintenance window, it will try the maintenance again during your secondary maintenance window.

Hi Bhargava The point mentioned by you above is more specifically related to maintenance schedule. This also mentions that for scale level less than 400 DWU, this activity can happen anytime without prior notice. I wanted to know whether there is any way to check this certificate of the sql pool and if we can check specifically the schedule of the rotation so that we can plan and better mitigate the downtime.

Thanks Bhargava on clearing that there is no specific way to know the schedule of certification schedule in Azure Synapse SQL Dedicated pool, however crazy this sounds. But can you confirm that we can find about any planned maintenance from service health portal.

Hello Ashu Anand,

Yes, I can confirm Azure service health provides the planned maintenance so customers can take action accordingly.

You can set up service health alerts to automatically notify you about service issues by email, SMS or via other push notifications.

Microsoft has not publicly disclosed the specific schedule for certificate rotation for the Azure Synapse SQL pool.

However, for any planned maintenance that might affect your service availability, you will usually see the notification through the service health.

Here, you can create a service health alert to notify any maintenance schedule.
