Dear Experts,

I have a list called "Variants" and there are 175 items in that. There is a column called "Variant Name" which we use to store variant name. Where as "Title" is used to store the Variant ID (Variant-<running number>).

On the search part we have used the PnP Modern Search webpart to show the results, Refiners and Search box.

The issue is when we search the variant name we are not getting any results on top. The search results are very inconsistent and not as expected.

For example if the variant name is "NY 542 Residency check", Only Residency as search keyword is returning the results but not any of the other keywords like NY, 542, NY 542, NY*, "NY 542", "NY 542 Residency check"

To resolve this we have used ranking as well on Asset Name but no improvement.

Eg: XRANK(cb=5000) RefinableString08:{searchTerms}* RefinableString08 being mapped property for variant name

We thought, There could be some issue with the crawl, So we have Reindexed the list multiple files by going to List Settings --> Advanced Settings --> Reindex list.

We even downloaded SearchQueryTool and even that is not returning the results.

Please see the below screenshots

We have seen the following documentation from microsoft about KQL queries and still we are not able to get the result as expected.

Please help.

Thanks,

Pavan

    Hi @Pavan Kumar Paruchuru,

Thank you for posting in this community.

I used your "NY 542 Residency check" example and tested it in my environment.

In my test environment, however, it returns the results correctly whether I enter "NY", "542", or part of "NY 542 Residency check" as a keyword.

Although I was not able to reproduce your question, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.

1.Since I'm not quite sure if there are any other customizations you've made to your web parts. Please try deleting and re-adding the web parts, just setting the available data source to SharePoint Search and displaying the search results in the PnP Search Results web part. Test to see if there is still an issue with the search results.

2.If the results show up fine in the first step, then try adding your customized settings step by step and test the search results after each step. This way we can locate if any of the settings are causing the problem. You can share the custom settings that are causing the problem with me, which makes it easier for me to test. Please take care to code your private information.

3.If the result in the first step shows an exception. Then I suggest you redeploy PnP Modern Search Web Parts v4.

4.Check if the same issue occurs with other users. View through another computer or account.

5.Check if the same issue occurs with other SharePoint site collections.

6.Try to use a different browser or your browser's InPrivate mode to see if the same error occurs.
