RDS CALs - activated more CALs than purchased

Hi,

We have purchased RDS CALs and i went through phone activation.

I have provided the required information to Microsoft representative and they have gave me back the license key pack ID. Once i have entered it - this activated 3 times more licenses than we have purchased.

Any idea how to decrease the licenses to the actual amount we have purchased ?

Hello,

If you've accidentally activated more RDS CALs than you've purchased, you can get in touch with Microsoft Licensing Support representative to resolve the issue. Explain the situation and provide them with all the necessary details, including your license key pack ID, the number of licenses you've purchased, and the number of licenses that have been activated. Then request a deactivation of the excess licenses that were activated in error.

Hi,

I went through activation over the phone. When they gave me the code it has activated 500 licenses. In addition we have purchased more licenses for another business and went through online activation, which once again activated 500 licenses. Is it possible to have an issue with the reseller ? Previously for 2012 or 2016 we did not face this issue but had purchased them from a different reseller.

It's possible that there was a mistake on their end when providing you with the license key pack or during the activation process. They should assist you in resolving the issue. Then double-check your CALs purchase agreement to confirm the number of licenses you've actually purchased.

Hi,

Tried several times to discuss with Microsoft licensing representative and they decline to help me. They are always saying open a premier support ticket.
We have opened a support ticket through our reseller and several times get one and a same response from Microsoft representative, which to be honest is very strange - "the 500 CALs is a trust model and Microsoft licensing is build on trust".
