Using SharePoint Server 2019

Good morning,

My company is in the process of replacing our two old SharePoint sites on domain A that are currently live. I have created 2 new SharePoint sites on domain B. I would like to know how I should go about taking the websites that have been created and moving them into another domain.

Both new sites were made in separate site collections so would I simply just need to back up the site collections? Or maybe Export the sites?

I have used Back up and restore to update my site from my Dev environment into my Prod so I was curious if the process would be similar and if not what route I should take to accomplish this task?

Please break down your explanation if possible so I can understand fully what is needed. Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi Tevon,

There is currently no official documentation on whether this is possible. There was also something wrong with my environment and there was no way to complete the test. You can use backup and restore to test to see if it works.

I also searched for a related post for your reference:

I will fix the environment as soon as possible for testing.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi @Tevon2.0,

Yes, SharePoint sites can be moved from one domain to another live domain. You can achieve it by detaching the content databases from a web application which includes the site collections you want to migrate in the old domain, then attaching the content databases to the instance of SQL Server in the new domain and attaching the content databases to the web application in your new domain.

For detailed steps, please refer to this article: Move content databases in SharePoint Server.
