Hello
RemoteFX vGPU was removed with the release of Windows 10, version 1809 and Windows Server 2019 . However, you can still use RemoteFX with GPU acceleration on Windows Server 2016 and earlier versions .
The RemoteFX vGPU feature lets the users of Virtual Machines (VMs) running Windows Server share a physical GPU (graphics processing unit) . The resources of a video card are shared among multiple VMs. This is the optimal scenario for high-burst workloads when the dedicated resources of a video card are not required at all times.
To use RemoteFX vGPU, you need a DirectX 11.0-compatible GPU with a WDDM 1.2-compatible driver and a CPU with Second Level Address Translation (SLAT) support . The GPU requirements for RemoteFX on Windows Server 2012 R2 include a compatible graphics card . Most likely, the servers hosting the RemoteFX workloads will be located in a datacenter and as such, it is recommended to use passively cooled, server class graphics cards .
If you want to use RemoteFX vGPU on your Windows Server 2016 host, you can install the graphics drivers recommended by your GPU vendor for Windows Server 2016 and create a VM running a guest OS supported by RemoteFX vGPU. You can then add the RemoteFX 3D graphics adapter to the VM .
