Using Visual Studio Community with .NET 8

Hi;

I have a UX person who is using Visual Studio Community and we just updated to .NET 8. They can't get .NET 8 to show up in Visual Studio.

Yes they have the latest version of Visual Studio. Yes they installed .NET 8.

What else do they need to do?

.NET 8 hasn't been released yet - has it?
It's available in the VS 2022 17.8 preview.

@David Lowndes Right - it's preview. Shows up fine in my VisualStudio Professional. Does not show up in my UX person's Visual Stusio Community.

You should never use a preview in a productive enviroment, only in a test area.

Hi @David Thielen ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Please open the Visual Studio installer > find the instance “Visual Studio Community 2022 Preview” > click on Modify > Individual components tab > make sure the “.NET 8.0 Runtime” component is installed.

Then, re-launch the Visual Studio and check if the .NET 8.0 is available in the VS preview version.

problem remains, individual components is missing net framework 8
