A Backup failure alert has been activated

Question

I connected the server (agent) and our Azure account successfully, and the transfer started, but it has now been stuck on 'Generating backup metadata information and preparing the metadata VHD...' for 2days and hasn't yet sent any data.

Any advice / pointers would be greatly appreciated.
