How do i delete (or remove me from) the 'microsoft' tenant

For some reason, in my 'switch directories' blade in azure, i see a 'Microsoft' Tenant listed. The tenant actually seems to be a 'microsoft owned' tenant. (id 72f988bf-86f1-41af-91ab-2d7cd011db47).

I assume i was added there once because of the MVP program or related stuff - i am not sure where this tenant is coming from. Using my access rights, when listing the resources, none are listed. However, a tenant without resources is creating problems for several scripts. Thus, i would like to remove this tenant from the list of 'my' tenants or remove me from this tenant.

I found this related ( How to delete azure tenant? ) stackoverflow question. The advice is to select the tenant and press "delete". When i do this, i end up in some kind of never-ending-loging loop. Of course, i also should not be able to delete this tenant, as i never created it.

Also, i tried the "leave tenant" button. This opens a "sing in" message which does not accept my credentials.

How do i get rid of that tenant?

    @twoelfer@hotmail.com ,

    It sounds like you previously tried to leave the tenant using the "leave tenant" button in the Microsoft Entra portal. Please try these steps to leave the tenant:

    • Turn off all incognito or private session on your browser.
    • Start a new incognito or private session on your browser.
    • Copy this URL https://myaccount.microsoft.com/?tenant=microsoft.onmicrosoft.com to your private browser.
    • Login with your Hotmail account.
    • If you land on the My Access page, click your account avatar on the top right corner and click View Account.
    • Find the Organizations section and click Manage Organizations.
    • In the Organizations page, you will find the associated organization of your personal account here.
    • If the administrator of this organization allows guest users to leave on their own, you will see a Leave button on the right side. If not, you have to contact the admin of this organization to manually remove you.
    • Click Leave.
    • You can follow the picture below for reference:

    If this doesn't work we can have a remote session go over this.

    @twoelfer@hotmail.com ,

    I found your account in the tenant (assuming it's the same one in your username), and I created an internal support request to help remove it.

    I'll update this post once the request processes.

    Thanks for letting us know!
