Upgrade from SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition to SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition

Hi,

We need to upgrade from SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition to SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition. Do we need to purchase a new license for SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition ?

Will the existing SQL license on SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition work ?

    Hi GAURAV SRIVASTAVA,

    If you are covered under Software Assurance, upgrades are included in your licensing. Otherwise, you will need to speak to a licensing vendor if you want to get some sort of upgrade pricing.

    Licenses & product for installation are bound to the product version, so you need both new.
