Issues with SharePoint Explorer Library sync on AVD sessions (FSLogix)- library fully syncs on each new session. What am I missing?

Have an issue with a client that is using AVD sessions & FSLogix profiles whenever they sync SharePoint libraries to the explorer.

The Group Policy has been defined against the AVD sessions for much of the One Drive and SharePoint preferences.

One Drive sign in / Redirect of known Folders / OneDrive default location / SharePoint URL defined / Limits on Disk space etc

To all intent and purpose it does what it should on initial logon - signs in and known folders are set to sync etc.

When users define SharePoint libraries that they want synced to Explorer, it does so successfully - syncs changes and files update in both directions etc.

However, the problems start when you log out of the session and back in.

One Drive signs back in on the new session - the SharePoint library appears in explorer as per previous.

But, One Drive goes straight back into checking the entire library again - almost like the first sync all over again.

Processing 100,000+ changes. Almost like the cache from the initial library sync is not being picked up on the profile.

I have checked the One Drive Sync App is up to date on AVD Hosts

I've also checked that FSLogix redirected data isn't Excluding any of the key AppData locations (Office, One Drive etc).

OS is Windows Server 2019 Datacentre

GPResults showing all the policies are correctly applying.

Event Viewer showing no issues opening profiles or writing etc

I feel it is FSLogix related - and that I am missing a key cache file being redirected into the profile on sign out.

But I can't seem to pinpoint which one?

When a SharePoint library syncs to explorer - where is the sync data stored?I was under the impression is was %appdata%\Local\OneDrive & %AppData%\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive

Away from AVD on either Domain Devices or Azure Joined Intune managed devices - everything works as expected.

Libraries sync and only changes are picked up on any subsequent log in.

Where the problem lies is this affects all their AVD session users

As a result - with this processing 100k changes - it really affects their sessions in terms of user experience.

No changes actually get processed - nothing shows in the One Drive viewer (see screenshot)

As it takes a significant amount of time to process this - and takes precedence over them trying to open things as you get errors like

"An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file" or "Cloud sync provider failed to validate the downloaded data"

But those errors disappear once the ghost sync completes. It has unnecessary demand on the AVD resources and the quality of the user experience.

Any insight or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. If I have missed a KB or article that describes this exact issue please let me know. I've so far not been able to see similar cases.
