Azure D4s_v3 VM Virtualization Hyper-V BIOS error but Security setting is Standard

I am trying to install Beckhoff TwinCAT software on a D4s_v3 virtual machine running "Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Azure Edition".

Beckhoff TwinCAT software needs virtualization and normally D4s_v3 is suitable for this. I saw some suggested solutions on web that asks to change the security to "Standard" but I am still getting "BIOS settings activation" error while installing Hyper-V.

Can someone suggest a solution?

Thanks,

Salim Sahin

    Hi Salim,

In the portal, please navigate to your VM -- Overview blade, and confirm that it shows Security type: Standard, as seen in screenshot below:

azure security type standard overview tab

I just tested creating D4s_v3 with "[smalldisk] Windows Server 2022 Datacenter: Azure Edition - x64 Gen2" image and was able to install Hyper-V inside of the VM without error.

    Thanks.
