Microsoft Lists - how to limit the displayed text in List view?

Hi,
I use MS Lists, modern view. In my list there is one column, which includes a lot of lines of text. I'm not sure what happened (I presume some update from Microsoft around Monday 23rd Oct) but previously, only few lines were visible in Lists view, and everything was looking clean and readable. Full text was visible only in Grid view or when opening certain item. Now, without me changing anything, any settings, full text is shown in List view. I need to scroll at least few times to get past one item.

Is there a way to limit how much of the text is shown in list view? I was googling the answer, I tried to format that lenghty column using JSON codes I found but all of them created some flaws.

Do you have any idea how to beat that problem? Preferrably I'd like to see about 4 lines of top text from each row.

    Hi @Paulina Skorko ,
It seems this is not a common issue per my test.

I created a column with multiple lines of text, and as soon as I have more than five lines of content, it automatically collapses, and you can only see five lines in view mode, which looks like what you originally and hopefully had. And after my research, there is no option to change this setting. It should autohide out-of-range text by default. Your situation is rather strange.User's image

However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, Please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.

1.Try editing the contents of this multiline text to refresh it and see if it collapses automatically.

2.Whether all Lists have the same problem? You could create a new List to check.

3.Try to use a different browser or your browser's InPrivate mode to see if the same error occurs.

4.You could try to clear browser cache then restart it.

5.Are other users with permissions facing the same problem? View through another computer or account.

Hope the information can help you. And if there have any unclear or misunderstanding, please feel free to post back and we’ll continue to help you all the time!

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated! Hope you have a good day and keep safe!

I'm now experiencing the same issue as Pauline, this has now reared its head again.
