We are running a SQL virtual machine SQL server under a developer license that needs to be upgraded to a standard SQL license.
The payment for the SQL license is done through Azure so no license keys in our control.
Now with the upgrade through the setup a SQL license key is requested to get the SQL server from developer to Standard edition.
My question:
Where can I get a SQL Standard license key to run it in the setup for the in-place upgrade?
Afterwards I can change the billing option in Azure for the correct payment method to Azure.
An Azure service that is used to provision Windows and Linux virtual machines.

From Microsoft: Customers who don't have Software Assurance can deploy an Azure Marketplace SQL Server VM image with the desired edition of SQL Server and then copy the setup media (typically located in C:\SQLServerFull) from it to their target SQL Server VM.
This is how you get a SQL Server Standard License in Azure. Then you can use the key from that media to change editions in the VM, then change it in the SQL Server VM for billing.

Thank you for the reply but this page does not give an answer on my question where I can get a SQL key if I am paying through Azure.
setup.exe > maintenance > upgrade edition > Product key
Here the setup requests an product key if you want to upgrade to a non-free edition of SQL.
With on-premises environment you of course purchase SQL keys and enter them and you can proceed with the upgrade.
In Azure however we do our payment for the SQL servers so where/how can I retrieve an SQL standard license key to enter in the setup?

You can change editions on the VM if you have the SQL Virtual Machine extension installed on the VM. That is the graphic that is displayed at the URL. Also, the key should be embedded in the sql setup on the virtual machine folders on C:\
