How to RE-add a work/school account to Microsoft Authenticator App

I'm trying to re-add both a work and school account to microsoft authenticator, but its asking me to approve a request by selecting the correct 2 digit number and I don't receive any push notification. Logging in on the work/school website typically forces me into the Auth. app, so I can't see any codes on the home page (if there were any).

I recently upgraded my phone and lost all of the 2 factor authentications in the app (apparently I didn't have a backup sync for these). I believe this is the root of the issue - I used to be able to select the appropriate number from the push notification, but now I can't. and at the same time, this is required to log back in. so I'm stuck in a loop.

My only thought is so contact both work and school administrators to somehow reset the 2 factor authentification. please let me know if there's anything else I should try first!

Thanks,

Aaron

@Aaron M - Yes you need to contact your Global/User Administrator to reset MFA .

Here is steps which you can share with Admin.

    Using Azure Portal:

    • Sign in to the Azure portal with the tenant Global Administrator account.
    • Navigate to Azure Active Directory > Users > All users > Choose the user you wish to perform an action on > select Authentication methods > Require Re-register MFA.
    • Once this is done, the next time the user signs in, he/she will be requested to set up a new MFA authentication method.

Yes that's correct, you'll need the work / school admins to reset the account so a new QR code can be generated with which you can relink the authentication device to your account.
