Dear All,

since a couple of days we have issues with external headsets or microphones (all vendors effected). The microphone from the external device is not working, it is detected in device manager or a app like MS Teams but it is not working (e.g. Zoom show the error "there is something wrong with the mic"). Doesn't matter if connected via USB or Bluetooth. The speaker works fine also the internal mic from the laptop works. We didn't change anything and last updates are weeks ago. Uninstall latest updates / bios didn't help

We only fix the issue with a reinstall of whole Windows System but of course this is not a solution for us.

Windows 10 22H2

HP Elitebook 840 G6 / G8 / G9

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

    Hello

Firstly try uninstall 3rd party anti-virus and install latest update.

If your microphone isn't detected after updating Windows 10, you may need to give your apps permission to use it.

To let apps access the microphone, select Start ,then select Settings > Privacy > Microphone . Select Change, then turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.

After allowing access to the microphone, you can choose which Microsoft Store apps can access these features under Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your microphone, and give access to non-Microsoft-Store desktop apps by ensuring that the switch beneath Allow desktop apps to access your microphone is set to On.

    Also try update related driver

    1. Locate the Microphone driver
    2. Right click on it and select "Update Driver".
    3. Restart your computer.

    Best Regards,

    Wesley Li
