Ms authenticator app

Question

I am going in circles with the authenticator app. I try to add the account (work account). App doesn't include the online setup step I was expecting. Instead it skips to giving me my 2digit code to put in the app. I can't out itinto the app. I'm on the app.

No amount of deleting the app or restarting the device has worked.

Any advice?

It doesn't work like that. You'll need the work admins to reset the account so a new QR code can be generated with which you can relink the authentication device to your account.
