Why isn't my Queue Trigger Azure Function firing?

I created a queue trigger function in Visual Studio Code using Python. The message arrives at the queue, but the function is not firing. The queue name is correct, but I'm not sure what the issue could be. Can someone help me troubleshoot?

Here's my script code:

What I would start with is:

Make sure that the deployed function can actually run. It happened few times with me that requirement.txt was in a wrong code page (in which case it's unusable) or contained packages incompatible with the runtime on Azure side.

Check if there's a poisoned queue around: you may get the idea what's wrong with the queue message.

Check the function logs.

Locally works perfect... but when I deploy never is fired..

Looks exactly like the requirements incompatibility issue. Please note that not every Python you can run locally can be executed in the Function environment (e.g. packages that use GPUs). Make sure your requrements.txt contains all the packages required for the function and that it is in the correct code page. I had an issue once when requirements.txt was accidentally re-coded to UTF-16 and even though it contained all the packages, Azure Function environment couldn't use it

Thanks for your answer ... my requirement.txt is very basic too

azure-functions azure.storage.queue

Locally function works ok. I add message to the Queue and it is processed. But when i deploy the function is never triggered

Do your other http-triggered functions Python work? I'd suggest for a sake of experiment to try to make the same basic function as http triggered and test it

Yes.. http trigger works, timer trigger works...

Just checked that for queues the requirements.txt should contain something like

azure-storage-queue==12.1.5

not azure.storage.queue

Can you try this?

For this case i suggest to activate Application Inisghts , make some calls and watch the Transaction Search menu

Post the logs if you dont find the curlpit.. , you know App Insights provide great visibility into whats going on and it might provide the solution!

Since this a Storage Queue action , i had a similar issue that was solved via API Permissions , but unless we see the errors - logs we cant be sure .

To open Application Insights from a function app in the Azure portal:

Browse to your function app in the portal.

Select Application Insights under Settings in the left page.

If this is your first time using Application Insights with your subscription, you'll be prompted to enable it. To do this, select Turn on Application Insights, and then select Apply on the next page.

Activate Managed Identity for Azure Functions

A similar problem ws solved by adding also API Permissions to Managed Identity f Storage Account ,user.impersonation

Also from Azure Functions set CORS to * and remove anything else

Finally from App Insights , go to transaction search execute the code and open the findings

You may find the problem there , if nothing works kindly post the messages !!!
