An app saves image and video files, but these files are not shown in the Recent panel of the Windows Home folder. How can an app make them show in the Recent panel?

I think such behaviour usually occurs by using the standard open/save dialog boxes. Does your application use these?
@David Lowndes No, the app uses two methods to choose a folder and save a file without any prompt:
How is the file name chosen?
There is the SHAddToRecentDocs API, but I don't know if you can use it in a UWP app.

Anyways, the app generates each name like FOO231019_201516.jpg (FOOYYMMDD_HHmmSS.jpg).

Currently UWP does not have API to add files to Recent panel of the Windows Home folder, could you please explain why you want to do this? What is the specific scenario? Maybe we can approach the problem from another direction?
Thank you for the clarification, Junjie. It answered my question.
For convenience, our apps save files to folders provided by KnownLibraryId without prompting users. App users sometimes have difficulty finding these files initially, so showing these files in the Recent panel would be very helpful.
BTW, could you turn your comment into an answer for me to accept?
You could add the files to your apps recent list - might that help your users?

True, but if your application could show them in its own list, wouldn't that maybe help your users?
Users usually want to use File Explorer to do their own thing. My current thought is to add a button to open the folder that stores saved media files.
