Appearance of text files on Windows home screen changed

My text files (Notepad) on my desktop used to look like the first image, but now it looks like the second image. I didn't restart my computer or update or anything, in fact I'm pretty sure it changed appearance while I was using it, so I'm not sure why it changed. Is there a way to revert their appearance back to default and not showing all the contents? This only happens to previously created text documents; ones that I made just now are in their default appearance.

Any help would be much appreciated.
