Hi there. I can't remove Recovery Service Vault, because security settings are grayed. I had a VM that backed up folder to the cloud, but a week ago I stopped backup. It seems something went wrong and I now in the dead lock. I can remove Recovery Service Vault, because the backup item exist and disabling soft deleting doesn't support.

When I tried to reinstall Azure Backup agent on the host the error 130002 was appeared.

In the Azure Backup Errors list there is no such error id https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/10183.azure-backup-errors-and-events-portal.aspx

Any ideas how to remove recovery service vault?

@Semen Anikin - I have checked the details of the case and it seems you have removed and deleted the data source from backup on 09-Nov and this data is currently in soft delete state for 14 days. Once 14 days is completed which is on 24-Nov then you would be able to remove the MARS registration from vault and then delete the vault.

I wish there was a way for you to remove AlwaysOn Soft Delete but currently it is not available.

Just to update you that Microsoft does not charge you for 14 days retention of data in soft delete state. But if you immediately want to delete the vault and does not want to wait for Soft delete period then you can reply on the case and the backend team will help on unblocking it from the backend.

    Hi @Semen Anikin (Finstek)

First thing is to check the Before you begin steps for a successful delete. Below this is a video guide for deleting a vault that you can reference. I think what's blocking you is attempting to remove the vault before deleting all the backup items. Use the following PowerShell script to recursively delete all backup items associated with the vault. Then reattempt to delete your recovery service vault. I wouldn't bother with reinstalling the agent since the end goal is to remove the vault altogether.

If you receive error messages from the script, please share them in a comment down below so I can assist.

Hello @Semen Anikin , Thank you for contacting us on Microsoft Q&A platform. Happy to help!

As per the first image it seems that Always on Soft Delete option is enabled on the vault due to which you are not able to disable soft delete option on the vault.

This would need help from the backend to remove the Always on Soft Delete option on the vault which will allow you to remove the backup item on the vault and further remove the vault.

So, I would advise you to please open a ticket with Azure Backup team and ask them to help on disabling Always on Soft Delete option on the vault(Support team will reach out to Product Group with a business justification and then Product Group will help in disabling the option from backend).
