Hi All,

I trying to get rid of silverlight as it is unsupported and a security risk.

However, everything I try, it just continues to appear its ugly head!!
Disable remediation through regedit, CCMSetup.exe /skipprereq:silverlight.exe

I'm running endpoint configuration manager 2006.

I assume the client automatically distributes silverlight as part of its remediation process?

Thanks

    Hi Jason

    Combination of 5.00.8853.1006 - 5.00.912.1020

control panel - programs and features

    Client Push - CCMSetup.exe /skipprereq:silverlight.exe

Disabled automatic remediation via group policies....NotifiyOnly set to TRUE

Created a package with 'wmic product where caption=Microsoft Silverlight' call uninstall

It's being dritirbuted the client ccmsetup and is hidden from .\386.....

Apparently Silverlight will no longer install on client devices automatically (1803). Yet mine is 2006.

    Thanks

    Just to validate here,

    1. What client agent version is running on the managed devices?
    2. Where are you seeing SilverLight?
    3. How are you trying to uninstall it?

    A few comments here:

    • Don't ever use wmic product as this leverages Win32_Product which is pure evil. Use the actual uninstall command-line to uninstall things properly.
    • My 2006 clients don't have Silverlight installed.
    • If you manually uninstall Silverlight from ARP and then initiate a ccmeval (from task manager), does it get reinstalled automatically?
    • Why have you disabled remediation?

    Sorry...what's ARP?

If I I disabled remediation, then the client may not check for prerequisites ......was at the point of trying anything to get rid of it.

ARP = Add/Remove Programs which is where you went in the Control Panel (aka the legacy way).
