I attempted to move a VM from one subscription to a different one

the VM in question was deployed from Azure Market place and has the followwing plans

Operating system - Linux

Image publisher - fortinet

Image offer - fortinet-fortisiem-vm

Image plan - fortinet-fortisiem-byol

I tried creating a snapshot from the disk and recreating the VM using the existing snapshot using the guidelines gotten from these links

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/move-limitations/virtual-machines-move-limitations?tabs=azure-cli#virtual-machines-with-marketplace-plans

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/azure-cli-change-subscription-marketplace#sample-script

However, after creating the VM, I do not see the image publisher, Image offer. they are all empty and have no value

Is this scenario supported? especially with VMs with market place plans

    Hello Temidayo Ojo,

Welcome to the MS Q&A Forum.

Virtual machines created from Marketplace resources with plans attached can't be moved across subscriptions. For a potential workaround, see Virtual machines with Marketplace plans.

Hope above will help you resolve the issue.

    Sincerely,

    Olga Os.
