Hi, my computer starts with wrong date and time all the time. It shows the last turn off time and date. I tried the suggestions here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/date-and-time-change-every-time-i-get-back-on-the/e8dc63c9-4cd1-4dc4-afa8-48f0a150414a. They did not work. What can you suggest?

If your computer is consistently starting with the wrong date and time, showing the last turn-off time and date, and the suggestions from the forum you mentioned did not resolve the issue, here are some additional steps you can try:

    Check the CMOS Battery:

    • The CMOS battery on your motherboard maintains the system time and other settings when your computer is turned off. If this battery is failing or dead, it could be the reason why your computer is losing track of time.
    • To check, you'll need to open your computer case and look for a small, coin-shaped battery on the motherboard. If you're comfortable doing this, you can replace the battery with a new one. Otherwise, seek professional help.

    Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware:

    • Sometimes, updating the BIOS/UEFI firmware can resolve issues with hardware, including time and date errors.
    • Visit your motherboard or computer manufacturer's website for instructions and the latest firmware. Be very careful with this process, as incorrect updates can cause serious problems.

Synchronize with an Internet Time Server:

    • You can configure Windows to automatically synchronize the time with an Internet time server.
    • Go to Settings → Time & Language → Date & Time. Ensure that 'Set time automatically' and 'Set time zone automatically' are turned on, and under 'Synchronize your clock', click 'Sync now'.

    Check for Malware:

    • In rare cases, malware can interfere with your system’s time settings.
    • Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out the presence of malware.

    Windows Time Service:

    • Ensure the Windows Time service is running properly.
    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Look for 'Windows Time' in the list, double-click it, and ensure its startup type is set to 'Automatic' and that it's running.

    Windows Updates:

    • Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date, as updates can fix bugs and issues.
    • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update, and check for updates.

    Check Time Zone Settings:

    • Ensure that your time zone settings are correct.
    • Go to Settings → Time & Language → Date & Time, and check your time zone.

If none of these solutions work, there might be a deeper issue with your computer's hardware or software, and it might be a good idea to seek assistance from a professional technician.

    Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

Reboot your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing a key like Del, F2, or F10 during boot).

    • Look for a section related to date and time settings.
    • Set the correct date and time if they are incorrect.

    Check Time Synchronization:

    • Open a command prompt with administrative privileges. Right-click on the Command Prompt and select "Run as administrator."
    • To check the time server your computer is using, you can use the following command:
    w32tm /query /status

    • Look for the "Source" line to see the time server.

    Force Time Update:

    • You can force a time update using the following command:
    w32tm /resync

This will synchronize the time with the configured time server.

When you start your PC check your UEFI setting and see if the date and time are correct.

Try check your device's manufacturer website and see if there are any new firmware updates available and if yes, install them.

Make sure report this issue using the Feedback Hub app.
