This feature is eDLP that uses Defender for Endpoint to scan the data inside the endpoint.

Question:

is this feature scanning the data at REST to detect sensible data inside the local drive, the objective is to detect if the end-users are storing sensitive data inside the local drive.

this information is required because we plan to request our users to store sensible data in Sharepoint but we need a tool to detect that the customers are following the policy.
