Improve VM Data Disk Performance

I created an AZURE VM to provide users access to company local data shares. When I copy to/from the VM, the data moves nearly 450MBs but when a user opens an individual file, it seems to take a long time (45-90 seconds)

Are you able to provide any further details around the VM you have deployed?

VM SKU

Disk SKU's and are the disks serving the data shares attached as managed disks or Azure files or similar

Accelerated Networking status (Enabled/Disabled)

Where is the user located in comparison and how are they connecting to the server eg VPN/Express Route/Public IP

A couple of suggestions:

Assess Network Latency: Use network monitoring tools to check the latency between the user's location and the Azure VM.

Review VM and Storage Configuration: Ensure the VM is appropriately resourced and that you are using the right type of Azure storage for your needs.

Local Caching: If possible, implement local caching for frequently accessed files.
