Premature time-out on Office documents

I am on on-prem setup using ADFS, Office Online Server and SharePoint Server.

Upload failed

Screenshot taken from online, but is the same as what I am encountering.

I opened a Word document from SharePoint and was working on it with the Desktop Word app. While working on my Word document at around 40min mark, the error message "Upload Failed - You are required to sign in upload your changes to this location" appeared.

However, my session timeout and ADFS token expiration are set at 60min.

Shouldn't session hold till 60min? What other mechanism is at work that caused this error?

Is the Desktop Word app having other authentication method? If yes, what is it and what is default timeout and how to configure that?

    Hi @Robin Chen ,

I see your situation. Let's try something else. I suggest you try the steps below.

    1. Exit all Office applications.
    2. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials.
    3. Remove all credentials there(This will remove your stored passwords.).
    4. Run regedit as an administrator to open Registry Editor.
    5. From Registry Editor,

    for Office 2016, browse to:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities.

    User's image

    1. Check to see if there are any folders listed under Identities. If yes, delete them.

You can save the files to see if the issue can be solved after performing the steps above.
