authenticator not working

I am trying to download an older version of visual studio. when I try to do it and it makes me log in, it says it is sending a code to my authenticator. I have the authenticator app and I have my personal email and my school email however I do not get the code so I can't download the program. this is holding up my college classes. When I open my app, it shows both my personal and school account. when i tap the school account it comes up as "Microsoft Entra ID" it says that it is a connected account, it also has a set up 2-step verification, when I click that it comes up with a "scan a QR code" and if I click to "update security info", it opens safari with sending another code to my authenticator which doesn't show up.

Also, when i try to download the app and it says it sends a code to my authenticator, if I click on "I can't use my Microsoft authenticator app right now" it just brings me to another page that has 2 options. 1 is to approve a request on my app, 2 is to use a code from my authenticator app. so, if I can't use my app why does it only give me options to use the app?

Sounds like you'll need the school admins to reset the account so a new QR code can be generated with which you can relink the authentication device to your account.
