Converting a VB 6.0 project to VB 2010

What steps do I need to take in order to convert my Visual Basic 6.0 project to VB 2010? Are there any tools or resources that can help me with this process?

Migrating a VB6 project to .NET with Visual Studio 2010 is not a trivial task..

You'll need VS 2008.

The post suggests that the migration wizard in Visual Studio 2010 is not much better than the one in Visual Studio 2008. The post also recommends using third-party migration tools such as Artinsoft’s Visual Basic Upgrade Companion or VBMigration.com.

Hi

As @S.Sengupta says, very troublesome. In many cases it would likely be faster and more accurate to start fresh with VB.NET (and probably best if you upgrade to VS 2022 before that).

A good idea is to explain what the application is required to do and you would get all the help you need here if/when any issues arise.

It isn't easy to convert VB6 to VB.net. Usually the best way is to rewrite the application in VB.net (or whatever language you choose).

I don't think so. Certainly most experienced VB developers will agree that it is difficult to convert/migrate from VB6 to VB.net. So in my (and many others) experience the best way, if you must convert/migrate, is to rewrite the application from scratch.
I differ from the earlier post you refer to in that I see no reason or advantage in 'migrating' to VB.net. I had assumed my implication was clear, but I am happy to state it outright: 'It is often more valid to either stay with VB6 or migrate to a completely different language rather than migrate to VB.net'.
