Suggestion for SharePoint based document management system

Hey all,

I work in a manufacturing company. My company is thinking of expanding the business soon. The company started small, so the company used traditional methods for the documentation process. As the business is going well the company needs more sophisticated methods to store and manage the number of documents required to keep everything running can be astounding. We are considering for a long-term use and investment as dealing with customers and mounting paper can be a daunting task. So, I want the transition to be smooth too.

I have done a bit of research online and I’ve been taking the online reviews and testimonials into consideration. But these are not the only factors to consider if you’re thinking of long-term investment. For the time being, I am using Microsoft SharePoint for documentations, but I am thinking of getting a SharePoint based document management system suggested by one of my friends. So, I’d like to get some insights and suggestions on the brand and the other DMS tools based on your experiences. It’s vital that the DMS should be able to pull up information at a moment’s notice, make changes, and meet deadlines, as quickly and efficiently as possible at any hour of the day or night. So, I’d like to explore my options before moving forward.

You should go for Out of the box DMS features of SharePoint Online first. It is quite an extensible platform, so if in future you need some DMS features which are not available by default, you can either by some add-ons or get those developed in-house.
