I am shutting down my ASR and can not delete a replicated server so I can delete the configuration server. The servers are all down and not connected and I can't delete the replicated server so that I can delete the configuration server and policies.

    Hi Les

you need to disable replication for each VM you want to delete. This can be done in the Azure portal by navigating to the Recovery Services vault, selecting the specific VM and choosing 'Disable Replication'

After that , you need to disassociate and delete all replication policies from the configuration server.

Get in touch if you need more help with this issue.

    Hello,

I understand that you're facing difficulties in deleting a replicated server in your ASR (Azure Site Recovery) configuration and subsequently deleting the configuration server and policies. I'm here to assist you with this.

Before attempting to delete the replicated server, please ensure you follow these steps:

Check Dependencies: Ensure that there are no dependencies on the replicated server, such as protection groups, recovery plans, or active replication jobs. These must be removed or stopped before you can delete the server.

Review Replication Status: Confirm that all replication for the server has been stopped and that there are no ongoing replication activities. You can check this in the Azure Portal under the ASR service.

Server State: Verify that the server you want to delete is in a "Disconnected" or "Not Configured" state. If it's not, you may need to disconnect it first.

Remove Protected Items: If you've protected specific items on the server, such as virtual machines or physical servers, ensure they are un-protected first.

Once you've taken these steps, you should be able to delete the replicated server:

In the Azure Portal, navigate to Azure Site Recovery.

    Select the desired ASR vault.

Under "Replicated Items," locate the server you want to delete.

Click on the server and select "Delete."

Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the deletion.

Once the replicated server is successfully deleted, you should be able to proceed with removing the configuration server and associated policies.

Please be cautious while performing these actions, as they are irreversible, and ensure that you have backups or necessary precautions in place if required. If you encounter any specific error messages or issues during this process, feel free to share those details, and we can provide further assistance.

For additional resources and official documentation, you can visit the Microsoft Azure Site Recovery Documentation on the official Microsoft website.

If you have any additional questions or face any challenges, please let us know, and we'll be happy to assist you further.

    Best regards,

    Alex Carry
