AFAIK, Azure OpenAI on your data supports the following filetypes: .txt .md .html Microsoft Word files Microsoft PowerPoint files PDF See Data formats and file types for more details. If you want to use an Excel file (.xlsx, .csv) as your data source, you would need to convert these files to one of the supported formats listed above. If you're converting data from an unsupported format into a supported format, make sure the conversion: Doesn't lead to significant data loss. Doesn't add unexpected noise to your data. AFAIK, Azure OpenAI on your data supports the following filetypes:

.txt

.md

.html

Microsoft Word files

Microsoft PowerPoint files

PDF

See Data formats and file types for more details.

If you want to use an Excel file (.xlsx, .csv) as your data source, you would need to convert these files to one of the supported formats listed above.

If you're converting data from an unsupported format into a supported format, make sure the conversion:

Doesn't lead to significant data loss.

Doesn't add unexpected noise to your data.

This will impact the quality of the model response.

Thank you for your answer. I guess my following-up question what is the best way to format the content. Here is an example of the content of my excel files: Cell A1 contains a questions, cell B1 contains the answer and cell C1 might have extra info.. Some of these files have over 200 lines. Would my best approach be to convert the content into a word file where each paragraph are the 3 cells combined ?

Regarding the format of your data, you can convert your Excel or CSV files into a JSONL file format, which is supported by OpenAI. JSONL is a file format where each line is a valid JSON object. In your case, each JSON object would contain a "prompt" field and a "completion" field, where the "prompt" field would contain the question and the "completion" field would contain the answer.

Here is an example of what a single line in your JSONL file might look like:

{"prompt": "What is the capital of France?", "completion": "Paris"}

Regarding your question about converting the content into a Word file, you can certainly do that if it makes it easier for you to work with the data.

Once you have your data in the JSONL format, create customized model wizard in Azure OpenAI Studio to fine-tune a GPT model with your data.
